BARRIERS
What mental health barriers do your customers encounter when trying to complete their education, explore meaningful career, or sustain and maintain employment? Customers may feel stuck or are not addressing barriers resulting in limited progress on their IPEs. VRC's heavy caseloads preclude them from offering more customer support.
SUPPORT
I provide short-term, goal-oriented, mental health counseling for Washington State VR customers to support them in overcoming emotional and cognitive barriers, inspire disability adjustment, and more. In collaboration with your former DVR VRS colleague Maggie Metcalfe, we support DVR and DSB VRCs who with their demanding schedules find it impossible to address their customers' mental health needs.

IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL SESSIONS
In-person counseling sessions are offered Mondays and Thursdays in Seattle's Madrona neighborhood. The office is accessible via elevator. There is free, on-street parking. Virtual sessions are offered Monday through Thursday through a HIPAA compliant video service. Day and evening sessions are available.
VR DOCUMENTATION
Providing counseling services for VR customers is defined in the Customer Service Manual. Please contact me for copies of this policy, the service code and description, and unit cost. This makes writing the AFP a snap. Your rehab tech will appreciate the simplicity of writing AFPs for mental health service.
BACKGROUND
I was a DVR VRC III, earned my MA Rehab Counseling degree at WWU, am a Certified Rehab Counselor (CRC), and LMHCA. For eight years until the pandemic hit, I operated the successs consulting practice InsideWorks that served hundreds of DVR/DSB customers who selected self-employment goals. Former RSA commissioner Janet Labreck recruited me to consult alongside her team addressing significant fiscal, operational, and program issues in VR agencies throughout the country and US territories. In 2025, my focus is on the counseling practice serving people throughout Washington State.
