Scheduling, Fees, & insurance

Scheduling

I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone or Zoom consultation to all prospective clients to help determine whether my therapeutic style, skills, and approach are a good fit for your needs. If we find that I am not the right therapist, I am happy to provide referrals to help you connect with clinicians who may be a better match.

Unless other arrangements have been made, sessions are held weekly and last 50 minutes. Extended sessions (75–90 minutes) are occasionally available when clinically appropriate and can be discussed as needed.

Appointments may be scheduled, rescheduled, or canceled by contacting me via text or email. Please note that I offer texting as a courtesy only for non-therapeutic matters like scheduling.

FORMS

After our initial phone consultation, you will receive a link to your secure client portal. Within the portal, you’ll find new client forms to review, complete, and sign before your first appointment. Please submit these forms promptly to ensure we can make the most of your first session.

Rates & Payment

Rates
$180 – 60-minute Initial Intake/Diagnostic Session
$160 – 50-minute Individual Psychotherapy Session or Parent Coaching Session

$240 – 60-minute Executive Coaching

I charge $160 per hour for other professional services you may need, including observations, report writing, meeting with other professionals upon your request, or for purposes of support, preparation of records or treatment summaries, educational consultation, etc. These services may not be covered under your insurance and may be an out-of-pocket expense.  These services are prorated for shorter time periods such as 15, 30 or 45 minutes.

Full payment is required at the end of each session. Through my Simple Practice Electronic Health Record-Client Portal, your credit card is securely stored to be charged at the end of each session.

Please note I am an independent practitioner solely responsible for the care of my client

Rate transparency: My rates reflect my educational background, training, and professional experiences.

Payment Methods

  • I accept major credit cards, Premera Blue Cross, and Lifewise insurance payments.
  • For your convenience and security, all payments are processed through your Simple      Practice client portal on a HIPAA-compliant platform.

Cancellation Policy

  •   To avoid being charged for a late cancellation or missed appointment, please contact me by email or phone at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule. I grant one missed session at no fee.      Other missed appointments and late cancellations are billed at the full session fee.
  • As a client, you are expected to attend sessions consistently and arrive on time. Because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, I am unable to fill that slot without sufficient notice. Cancellations or reschedules made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged unless due to an emergency.

Insurance

  •   I offer private pay services. The benefits of a fee-for-service model include enhanced privacy and protection of your health information, as well as the assurance that all treatment decisions—such as goals, approach, and duration—are made collaboratively between us, without the involvement of a third-party payer.
  • I am also in-network with Premera Blue Cross, LifeWise, and select BlueCard insurance plans.

Out-of-Network

If your insurance plan is not listed above, you may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. However, please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed. I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to verify your out-of-network mental health benefits.

When speaking with your insurance company, it may be helpful to ask the following questions:

  • Is mental health counseling a covered benefit under my plan? If so, which      types are covered (individual, family, couples)?
  • What is my deductible, and has it been met?
  • Does my deductible apply to mental health services?
  • How many counseling sessions am I allowed per year?
  • Are sessions limited to a specific duration (e.g., 50 or 60 minutes)?
  • I typically bill using CPT codes 90791, 90837,      and 90834, among others, as appropriate.
  • Do I need a referral from my primary care physician before beginning counseling?
  • What percentage of the session fee will I be reimbursed for using an out-of-network provider?

Advantages of Using an Out-of-Network Provider

There are several benefits to working with an out-of-network therapist:

  • Greater freedom to choose a therapist who best fits your needs and goals.
  • Flexibility to create a treatment plan tailored to you—without restrictions or      limitations from insurance requirements.
  • Increased privacy and confidentiality, as minimal or no personal information is      shared with insurance companies.
  • No limitations on the number of sessions or the format of therapy (including telehealth).

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining how much your medical or mental health care will cost. Under federal law (effective January 1, 2022), all licensed or certified health care providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate to clients who do not have insurance or do not plan to use insurance for their services.

You are entitled to a written Good Faith Estimate of the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including psychotherapy. This estimate may include related costs such as testing, equipment, or facility fees. You can request a Good Faith Estimate from any provider before scheduling services.

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge. Please keep a copy or photo of your estimate for your records.

Note: The Good Faith Estimate does not include potential charges for late cancellations, no-shows, crisis sessions, case management, court-related services, or other non-therapeutic fees determined on a case-by-case basis.
